The Girl with Dragon Tattoo is a crime novel by author Stieg Larsson. It was published in 2005 and became best-seller novel of that time. The author has told an incident which occurred when he was 15 years old. He saw a gang of four people who raped the girl named Lisbeth. The author was standing by at the time of the incident.
After few days, he went to her for being sorry as he was embarrassed that he could not help her. But she didn’t forgive him.
He remained tense for a long period because he was ashamed of not saving the girl from being raped and later he decided to write a novel on that incident. In which, Lisbeth was shown a rape survivor. There remained a question mark on the veracity of novel even after the death of author but his friend told that was not his own story he told it was someone’s else. The novel took place in a Swedish town. Larsson refused Swedish publishers to change a title of the novel but English release changed a title. And the size of Salander’s dragon tattoo; from a large piece covering her entire back to a small shoulder tattoo.
The novel was released in Sweden but afterward in many other European countries. It won many awards and author also won the award. And the novel, the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, got variable comments from critics of America. The novel was on no. Four of a list of best-selling novels of New York Times.
Dr. Abdallah Daar said that the events surrounding the disappearance of great-niece are meticulously and ingeniously pieced together, with plenty of scientific insight. By 2011, over 3.4 million hard copies of the novel were sold. And altogether 15 million of copies of the novel were sold in the United States.
